The Power to Win British Prime Minister  John Major 1964: began his political career as a councillor of a borough council. 1968: elected as a councillor of a ward council and served to chair the housing committee. 1974: stood for Parliamentary seat. 1979: won the conservative seat at the general election. 1985: Under-Secretary of State at the Department of Health and Social Security. 1986: promoted to Minister of State of the same department. 1987: appointed to the cabinet as Chief Secretary to the Treasury by Margaret Thatcher. 1989: the Foreign Secretary and the Chancellor of the Exchequer. 1990: the youngest Prime Minister or over a century, stayed in that position to 1997. 1995: resigned as Conservative Party leader. He was born in a very poor family. After leaving school at 16, he worked as a labourer in various position to earn income needed by his family. He continued studying at home. When he was asked by the reporters how he had overcome those years of hardship, he answered as follows: "I have never been pessimistic even in the worst situation. When working always with hope the negative thinking disappears. The heaven blesses those with bright ｅxpression and positive attitude." This is what we need to keep in our mind. Positive and aggressive attitude will get you the whole world, while negative and passive attitude will get you nothing. We should get out of the prejudice and the favoritism. We should develop the attitude of balanced mentality.
